Alyene Snelson

Alyene M. Snelson of Coweta, age 79, a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday morning, October 5, 2011 at her residence in Coweta, OK. She was born on March 15, 1932 in Rogers County, OK and was the daughter of Bentley and Cleo (Evans) Medlock. Alyene and J. C. Snelson were married on April 5, 1947 in Coweta, OK and were married 53 years until he preceded her in death on September 26, 2000. Alyene had been a loving homemaker whose family was everything to her. She dearly enjoyed cooking, doing yard work, fishing, raising cows and most of all she loved taking care of her precious grandchildren. Alyene is lovingly survived by her two children, Charles Snelson and his wife, Linda, of Coweta and Judy Blair and her husband, David, of Coweta; her brother, Leroy Medlock and his wife, Lee, of Catoosa, OK; her sisters, Linda Sue Moody of Prue, OK and Pauline Belden and her husband, Rusty, of Prue, OK; her three grandchildren, Tanya Blair, William Blair and Jason Snelson and his wife, Stacey, all of Coweta; her three great grandchildren, Davey Blair, Rachel Hymer and Shandy Blair; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Alyene was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Snelson, her parents, Bentley and Cleo Medlock, one sister, Willie Mae Bettes and two brothers, William Medlock and Thomas Francis Medlock. The family will be present at a visitation on Friday evening, October 7, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Alyene will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Vicki Emerson officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Johnny Robinson, Stan Turner, Brian Blissit, Bob Warner, Jim Holmes and Ted Carter.
