Alvin Lee Copeland, age 93, lifelong resident of Coweta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Senior Suites in Broken Arrow, OK. He was born on January 20, 1931, in the Shahan Community in Coweta, OK to Oscar Leslie and Cora Jnema (McKenzie) Copeland. Alvin's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and the simple joys of life.

Alvin grew up in Coweta, where he attended Hidden Valley Schools. He was a man of enterprise, owning several service stations throughout his career, including Gibble Gas Service Station, Vaughn Service Station, and Texaco Service Station. His service stations became places where friends and neighbors would gather not just for fuel, but for fellowship.

On December 10, 1947, Alvin married the love of his life, Joyce Lee Baucom, in Coweta, OK. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising a family. Alvin was a dedicated husband and father, and his family was the center of his world.

He is survived by his children, Patsy Holmes-Milliger and husband Larry of Broken Arrow, OK, Cathy Bristol and husband Larry of Coweta, OK, and Wayne Copeland and his wife Kim of Coweta, OK. His legacy continues through his 7 grandchildren, Kim Urritia and her husband Octavio, Jeff Holmes and his wife Jami, Julie Holmes, Devin Bristol and his wife Kretia, Amie Bristol, Mandy Miller and her husband Kevin, and Chelsea Copeland; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. Alvin also leaves behind his brother, Cleo Copeland and his wife Vonda of Coweta, OK; his sisters, Hazel Warshum of Little Rock, AR, and Donna Fricki and her husband of Pearland, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Copeland; his parents, Oscar Leslie and Cora Jnema Copeland; his sisters, Lois Stephens and Joanne Moore; his brother, Tunny Copeland; his son-in-law, Alan Holmes; and his special nephew, Steven Stephens.

Alvin's interests were a reflection of his love for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Alvin cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured forever. His pugs were a constant source of companionship and brought him much joy.

Visitation for Alvin will be held from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK, with the family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service celebrating Alvin's life will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating.
