Allen Willis Slavens

Allen W. Slavens, age 80, resident of Wagoner, OK passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 15, 2014 at the Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK. He was born on February 23, 1934 in Warner, OK and was the son of Winson and Eathel (Taylor) Slavens. Allen was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1956. He and Billie Lois Hughes were united in marriage on June 30, 1980 in Miami, OK and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2005. Allen worked as an Inspector at Dresser-Rand in Tulsa, OK for 27 years until he retired in 1996. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Allen is survived by 2 daughters, Anita Childers and husband, Larry, of Claremore, OK and Sandra Johnson of Afton, OK; 1 sister, Nadine Graham of Pinole, CA; his companion, Geraldine Greene of Coweta, OK; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Lois Slavens, his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, May 18, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 19, 2014 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Jim Dodson officiating.
