Alleen Eyvonne Detherage, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Monday evening, May 29, 2023, at Canoe Brook in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years. She was born on June 12, 1934, in Santa Paula, California to Edwin Elzey and Ida Frances (Peterson) Graves.
Alleen was a proud graduate of Santa Paula High School in Santa Paula, California. She married the love of her life, Billy Harold Detherage, on November 23, 1951, in Santa Paula, California. Together, they raised a beautiful family.
Alleen had a strong work ethic both inside and outside the home. She took great joy in caring for her family as a dedicated homemaker in addition to holding many jobs such as typist for the U.S. Navy, administrative clerk, retail salesperson, teacher’s aide for students with special needs and seamstress at Munsingwear.
Alleen was a woman of deep faith, and she cherished her church family at the Church of Christ in Cave Springs, Arkansas. She had a passion for knitting, cooking, and seamstress work, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness.
Alleen is survived by her three sons, Billy Harold Detherage Jr. and wife Colleen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Sandy Detherage and wife Cindy of Belton, Texas, and Brant Detherage and wife Debra of Hartford, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Zach Detherage and wife Lindsay, Wendy Lee and husband Nathan, Tammy Benedick and husband Jered, Brandon Detherage and wife Amanda, Tiffany Ortiz, Josh Detherage, Jacob Detherage and wife Courtney, Isaac Detherage and wife Rachel, and Tatina Shouse and husband Donovan; thirteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Ed "Butch" Graves and wife Joyce of Arkansas; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Billy Harold Detherage, and her parents, Edwin Elzey and Ida Frances Graves.
A memorial service will be held in Cave Springs, Arkansas to celebrate Alleen's life and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always remember her as a beacon of love, faith, and generosity.
