Aleta "Granny" Rose, age 88, of Coweta, Oklahoma departed this life on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Muskogee Community Hospital. She was born on August 17, 1921 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Basil and Hazel (Scantlin) Howard. Aleta was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to her family. She received her education at Garland School in Haskell County. Aleta and Everett Ike Rose were married in 1938 in Stigler, Oklahoma. She owned and operated Rose Grocery Store in Stigler for 30 years until her retirement in 1978. Aleta came to Coweta in 1990 from Stigler, Oklahoma. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, bird watching and being with her grandchildren. Aleta loved God and served the Lord for many years. She loved singing and memorizing her favorite scriptures. Her family always enjoyed hearing her recite what she learned. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Aleta is lovingly survived by her son, Tommy Rose and his wife, Betty, of Coweta, Oklahoma; her sister, Berneice Howard of Stigler, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Karla Bibb and her husband, Floyd, of Coweta, Oklahoma and Malinda Rose of Coweta, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Aleta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother. Funeral services for Aleta will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, Oklahoma with Rev. Brian Gilbert officiating.
