Sharon Burns, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 7, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on March 17, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Andy Anderson and Adeline (Jones) Anderson. Sharon was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.
Sharon was raised in Tulsa, built her career in California and relocated back to Tulsa to enjoy her retirement with family and friends. From humble beginnings, she cracked the glass ceiling to become a key member of a highly successful golf course development and management firm. She was a respected figure in her field and a true servant leader. Her magnetic personality drew people to her, and she was known for her warm, welcoming nature and quick wit. She was a woman of faith, attending The Church of the Madalene in Tulsa, where she actively volunteered and was a cherished member of the congregation.
Sharon was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul J. Burns, her father, Andy Anderson, her mother, Adeline (Jones) Anderson, her sister, Karol Cain and Karol's husband Ed Cain.
She is survived by her son, Robert Scott Kennard and his wife Margaret Jeannette Kennard, her grandsons, Erik Scott Kennard and his fiancé Missy, Matthew Bradley Kennard and his wife Samira, nephew Michael Bradley Cain, his wife Mary, niece Kathi Louise Limbocker and her husband Craig, niece Karey Marie Clark and her husband Mitchell and her true love, great-granddaughter Macie Jean Kennard. Her friends and family were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In celebrating Sharon's life, we remember not just the end, but the beautiful journey that was her life. Her journey was filled with love, laughter, unshakable friendships and countless memories. Sharon was a remarkable woman, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the lives of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass for Sharon will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 4:00 PM at The Church of the Madalene in Tulsa, Oklahoma officiated by Father Desmond Okpogba.
