Carolyn Ann (Hundley) Rowe was born October 26, 1949, in Neosho, Missouri, to Everett and Edith (Jackson) Hundley. She passed from this life at the age of 73 to her eternal home in Heaven, on Thursday morning, September 21, 2023, at her home in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Carolyn grew up on a farm in Newton County, Missouri. She attended Midway School and graduated Salutatorian from the consolidated Triway High School in 1967. Carolyn attended Crowder Junior College in Neosho, received a B.S. Degree in Education in 1971, and a Master's Degree in School Counseling in 1981, both at Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University. She also completed the requirements for Elementary and Secondary Principal certification from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.
She spent almost all of her working years in education, as a science and PE teacher, school counselor, and school principal; the last 32 years in Coweta Public Schools.
Carolyn met Wayne at Crowder, and they were married in Neosho, Missouri on August 9, 1969. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at CrossPoint Baptist Church in August 2019, with many family members and friends in attendance.
Carolyn enjoyed the farm life when she was growing up, especially riding horses with her brother, Chuck, and best friend, Jackie Johnson. They also enjoyed roller skating on Saturday nights and participating in 4H activities with their horses. She played high school softball, volleyball, and basketball, and continued to play softball on the First Baptist Church women's softball team.
Carolyn was active throughout her life in the church. She taught in Sunday School, VBS, Bible studies, and sang in the church choirs. She was blessed to be a part of First Baptist Church and CrossPoint Baptist Church the last 40+ years in Coweta. She particularly enjoyed going to Kiamichi and Falls Creek with the children and youth over the years.
Carolyn was blessed to sing with the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma and was privileged to sing in many churches in Oklahoma, Santa Fe, New Mexico, in Washington D.C., Estonia and Latvia with this group and a close SCW Sister, Phyllis Redfern. Singing God's praises through the years has been a real blessing to her.
Carolyn and Wayne enjoyed traveling, especially with their close friends, Marion and Francie Schauffler. They covered most of the United States together and playing spades.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wayne; their children, Bryan Rowe and Kimberly of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and daughter, Cheri Watkins and Grant of Durant, Oklahoma, and two grandchildren, Tyler Rowe and Dylan Rowe. Additional family members include Wayne's siblings and spouses, mother-in-love, Marilyn Cooper, and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Edith Hundley, and her only sibling, Charles "Chuck" Hundley.
